A dog was determined to find help after a serious crash. Now being called a hero, the smart, loyal pup led police right to the crash scene and to her seriously injured owner.
Late Monday night, New Hampshire State Police responded to multiple reports of a loose dog on a bridge near the Vermont border.
When police located the Shepherd they attempted to capture her. But, each time police got close, the dog ran northbound. Troopers followed as the shepherd led them to a section of damaged guardrail. On closer inspection, they discovered the mangled wreckage of a pickup truck that had rolled off the highway.
Two human occupants of the truck had both been ejected. Both were injured and suffering hypothermia.
At the scene, police learned that the dog, a 1-year old Shiloh Shepherd named Tinsley, belonged to Cam Laundry, the driver of the truck. Miraculously, Tinsley had been uninjured in the crash. Troopers said it was clear that she’d led them to the scene of the accident intentionally.
Vermont State Police said in a statement that Tinsley stood by her owner as officers rendered aid.
Vermont Police took over the investigation and revealed that Laundry, 31, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. While he suffered only minor injuries, his passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. Sadly, another dog inside the truck during the crash was struck by another vehicle and killed following the accident.
Laundry was given a citation to appear in court to answer to a DUI and other pending charges.
Laundry called Tinsley is guardian angel and promised her a big venison dinner.
