How to watch Burghley Horse Trials live
The only way to watch all of the Burghley action live is to subscribe to Burghley TV.
Burghley TV was well received by those who signed up to watch it last year and it promises to be even better this time. Presenters Nick Luck and Rosie Tapner are back with their blend of knowledge and humour and will be joined again by commentators John Kyle and Nicole Brown, supported by Tina Cook and Nicola Wilson.
Between them they’ll deliver interviews and features, plus a daily highlights show, and every step of the action from the Wednesday trot-up to the final showjumping rounds and trophy presentations will be available to watch live.
Last year’s coverage, including super slow-motion footage, will be enhanced further by a BATCAM drone and hat cameras giving a rider’s view of the course.
The BAFTA-award winning team behind Burghley TV don’t make TV for any other five-star event, and the £20 annual subscription enables you to watch live or on demand, as well as giving access to archive footage dating back to 1990.
The BBC will show a highlights programme on Sunday, 3 September, which will include the last few showjumping rounds live.
Will the BBC show Burghley Horse Trials?
There will be a highlights programme on the BBC from 2-4pm on Sunday, 3 August, including the final live showjumping rounds. If you want to watch all the live action, you will need to subscribe to Burghley TV.

How to watch Burghley live with a VPN
While it is not necessary to use a VPN to access Burghley TV’s live stream, if you would like to protect your online viewing from being monitored by third-parties, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can help you do this. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, such that the servers and services you’re accessing aren’t able to track what you’re doing. All the information passing back and forth is entirely encrypted.
There are many VPN providers out there, with some more reliable and safe than others. As a rule, we’d suggest a paid-for service such as free 30-day ExpressVPN trial which offers a 100% risk-free money back guarantee. If you’re not happy with the service any time within the first 30-days, then you can cancel with no penalties at all.
How to use a VPN
Using a VPN is incredibly simple.
1. Install the VPN of your choice. ExpressVPN is the one we recommend.
2. Open up the VPN app and choose the location of the service you wish to access.
3. Then head over to Burghley TV on your browser or device and enjoy the livestream.

We recommend VPN services in the context of legal recreational uses. For example:
- Accessing a service from another country (subject to the terms and conditions of that service)
- Protecting your online security and strengthening your online privacy when abroad
We do not support or condone the illegal or malicious use of VPN services. Consuming pirated content that is paid-for is neither endorsed nor approved by Future Publishing.
Why Burghley Horse Trials launched Burghley TV in 2022
“At Land Rover Burghley we strive towards the best possible quality, whether that is the footing for the horses, the visitor experience or the way in which a global audience can watch this top-class event,” Burghley event director Martyn Johnson told H&H when Burghley TV launched in 2022.
“Many sporting events have moved towards pay-to-view livestreaming, often offering quite a basic model. We believe we can offer a significantly upgraded viewer experience with sophisticated production and better, more in-depth content.
“Burghley TV will offer a really first-class viewing package with excellent presenters, guests, features and special footage that showcases our event and the wider sport – in the way that it deserves.
“We’re really excited to be launching Burghley TV – this will be a comprehensive production of unprecedented quality, which offers a wealth of content both in terms of live sport, but also with superb added value from our team of expert commentators and presenters.
“With streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime considered mainstream viewing these days, we felt now was the time to establish our own, bespoke TV production service. It gives us the scope to create a unique viewing experience for anyone unable to visit in person or who prefers to watch from the comfort of their sofa. It also means we have global reach and the opportunity for international eventing fans to access the competition.”
